12x18 Drawing

Just a lil' baby cub running. I'm so glad that I researched cat anatomy for this! It came out well. Still, I wish I could redo it. I want to change the coloring and edit some things in the anatomy, and fix the bent forepaw. I just don't like how it looks.  But I'd give it a 7/10, I guess?

Thumbnail Sketches

We had to do thumbnail sketches at some point. I was testing out wispy, hair-like textures and eyes, and I like how it came out. If only I could do it again.

Palette Knife Test

I guess this is alright? Apologies for the dark lighting, I really like it more in the dark. Anyways, it's just a desert setting with a sunset. I really like it now that I look at it more, especially how it almost looks like it fades into clouds at the bottom. But that cactus is the worst thing to ever exist, ever.

Palette Knife, but with ✨t e c h n i q u e s✨

The technique here was using the edges of the knife to my advantage. The clouds were made purposefully like a tree (ish) texture and dripping look in some places on purpose (I was feeling sad when I was drawing it and that was how it just came out, very gloomy). I like how the grass was done, I just wish I made more of it, and a bit more evenly curved and blended. I like the ocean skies type look.

Watercolors~ (actual watercolors/pencils so technically two of the painting techniques?)

I really really like this one! I really like the shading, and the texture on the paw. I loved working with the watercolor pencils, although I didn't use them to their full potential. I just wish I used darker colors on the paw, and some tweaks on the face anatomy.

I was absent for the other technique and I was exempt oops

Color Double Page Spread

I don't really like this piece anymore. I don't like the character design, the colors, or the anatomy, especially the hands. They look so out of place. In fact, lets just cut off the entire left half. The right half looks nice, I like the legs.

If I could redo it, I would, of course! I changed art style a ton, and when this was made, I was so bad at painting. But whatever, it's fine, I guess. It's not the worst.

Portfolio Cover

I don't necessarily like these anymore, like at all, I hate them so much, I'd redo them if I could. The anatomy on the front is horrible, and the coloring on the back isn't necessarily my cup of tea (hAHA GET IT BECAUSE HE'S HOLDING TEA HAHa bad jokes).

The front is one of my original characters, and the back is Asgore from Undertale.

Color Theory

Wow, I hate this. It's so messy. The anatomy is weird and crooked. There's little color order. I've only done realism for faces once before this, and painted only about 2 other times, so this was destined to be bad. But this bad?
I'd redo it if possible, organizing things better and just overall doing better than this piece of trash. The sketch was better, so so much better

12x18 Original Sketch

I didn't like these plans, so they were changed. I didn't like the storyline, either. But I like this sketch.

Final Figure Practice
I used to like this piece, but I don't know. The proportions are off and the colors are terrible, I was aiming for a warm, unrealistic color scheme but it didn't really work out. Eh, satisfactory?

Choice Artwork #1

This is another original character of mine, his name is Rantanshotto (or Rantansho) and that roughly translates in Japanese to lantern shot, which explains the core parts of his personality (he's a marksman and adventurer). He always carries a lantern, without it he's extremely, extremely weak. So with his Japanese origins, I decided to use watercolor for the background, though it's not so visible here, to convey like that Japanese legend illustration feel. There's a little bit of paint spills in some places, but I like this piece a lot. The head coming off thing was just an idea of mine, and I love the texture and shine (not to sound weird, but like the juicy orange juice vibe, y'know? it's what I was going for.)

Choice Artwork #2

I wanted to try a landscape, and I had never n e c e s s a r i l y used watercolor before this. It looks so so so so much better in person. The cactus texture came out really nice, in my opinion! Too bad you can't see it well on camera. For this I was thinking a kind of exploding sun desert thing. I'm not sure, but I liked the idea, though I'm not satisfied. I still have SO MUCH TROUBLE with paint of any kind, with spontaneous irreversible leaks and wrong colors and everything going everywhere. I'd choose pencil or marker over paint any and every day.

Tempura Batik

Remember when I complained about the Color Theory portrait? Well, this is even worse, b u r n it. it all came out wrong, I never want to even look at ink ever again. It took way too long than what it's worth, like, it took forever, and it's my worst piece. It was a scene from a book, where the character is dying and bleeding out blood and healing flowers, so I wanted to keep some parts black in that kind of morbid atmosphere, but nothing worked out.
